How do I know if I need a colonic?
If we eat, drink & breathe, we are processing toxins.  A typical colon hydrotherapy session may help release several quarts of fecal matter; quite a lot more than we release in a day.
Does it Hurt?
Most people find this type of therapy very relaxing and relieving. Sometimes the muscles contract and the contraction (peristalsis) of those muscles may feel like cramping or gas but that means the peristalsis is starting to work - a good thing. This is the body's way of letting us know it is working!
How long will a session be?
The FDA recommends 30 to 45 minutes of water intake. We allow an hour for each appointment, including changing time. You may want to arrive a few minutes early on your first visit to fill out your paperwork. You may also download and complete the client intake form from the website before you arrive.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my treatment?
It is best to stop eating two hours before and stop drinking one hour before your session. A day or two before your appointment you may want to eat light, non-cream soups or stews with lots of vegetables.  Staying away from red meat and seafood is advisable.  Chicken, fish, brown rice, is ok. You might want to avoid gas producing vegetables and carbonation (e.g., pop, beer, sparkling water). Try to cut out alcohol and excessive sugars.  Staying hydrated is very important, try to increase your water intake. We recommend that you eat a light meal on the day of your appointment… not skip, as you may become light-headed.
Is one treatment enough or will I have to come back for more treatments?
It’s best to receive a series of three treatments in a row when you first begin. This way you can be somewhat assured of reaching far up into the colon and really doing a good job of cleaning.  If you eat well and take good care of yourself, it may only be necessary to have a series once per quarter.  However, if your eating habits are somewhat poor or you are having digestive issues, it may be beneficial to have treatments on a monthly basis.  Each person is different.  After the initial series it is really up to you and your therapist to determine what would be a good protocol for you.
What will happen after the treatment and can I work, will I leak?
We recommend that you relax and take it easy after your first appointment.  Most of us have strong enough muscles to heed the call and get to the toilet without leaking.  After cleansing, do not trust your gas…it could be wet.
Can Colon Hydrotherapy Wash Away the Good Bacteria with the Bad?
The accumulation of the feces in the bowel leads to fecal encrustation, resulting in constipation and generates toxemia.  It is difficult for the colon to produce the necessary intestinal flora in this environment. This also upsets the normal acid-alkaline balance and the growth of the friendly bacteria is hindered. Cleansing the colon will help bring the acid-alkaline ratio back into balance, allowing friendly bacteria to thrive and disease-causing bacteria will find it difficult to develop. In addition, clients are encouraged to take a probiotic supplement before and after colonics sessions.
Will colon hydrotherapy help me lose weight?
It won't hurt as most people carry between 7-20 pounds or more of impacted fecal matter in their bowels. A series of colon hydrotherapy sessions will certainly help break up and move old waste from the body. The results work best when used in conjunction with healthy eating, exercise, and proper hydration.
